Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

We Spent Friday night over in Bushwick, at our favorite art gallery Ad Hoc. The Place was bursting at the seams when Harold and I arrived which was pretty refreshing considering the dire feeling of gloom that has swept the city the past few months. The DJ was spinning some feel good tunes, and the bar was serving up some generous helpings of Zygo and soda. It was Martha Coopers book release party. Going Postal features Martha's photos of graf stickers from some of the most prominent Graffiti artists this genre has seen. Here are some photos.

We can't catch our breath over here on the mothership of Zygotopia. Its been a couple of months of some pretty eventful moments that almost past us by in a blur... but thank the gods for the energy to keep up. From Erika Badu's CD release party over at Alex Grey's supersonic art space and getting toe up with Mr. Mike Chav her producer extraordinaire. Brad Walshs photographic expose was a huge success with Christian Siriano, Project Runways Winner and supa' star, hosting. Of course we can't forget kickn it with some Muay Tai fighters and watching peeps down bottle after bottle over at Roseland Ballroom for Mauy Thai Mayhem XI. It's a spoonful of Zygo that keeps the NYC down-town and oh so wicked. Some pictures to further the analogy&also want to extend a ginormous thank you to: Alana for truly being a bad-ass bitch, Brad (www.junk-mag.com), www.ithinkyoureswell.com, and all the mentions and support...

Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

2008 is a blur thus far...so much to do so little time... so little sleep...seeing we over in Zygo Land only average a few of those luxurious hours of shut eye... but who needs sleep when you're too busy planning the precise moment of our world domination...mwah ah ah ah !
uh, yeah so 6 weeks in, a quick trip to Seattle for an unexpected exposure of art, fish markets and music, a shout out to Fernando for getting inspired with some bottles of Zygo and 44 North...ooooh look at the colours! and then back in NYC, the grind and staring at my alarm clock just before it goes off...

Counting it down folks. Only 11 days left for 2007. And its been a good year. Thanks to all those who supported the cause. Couldn't have done it without you. To another year of debauchery, innovation, realization, and success.
peace.

Good Times.

Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

When the room is filled with a kaleidoscope of fabulous personalities, intricately woven by the common goal of kickn back, you wind up with a night of refreshing simplicity. Conversations moved away from the mediocre to delve a little further below the skin. From an unexpected talk with Alex about the Cuban revolution, to Bronques and Harold engaged in whether to move a pawn or a queen, (metaphorically speaking of course), to watching Dimitry finally give in to the temptress that is the Turntable. You have a couple of hotties getting caught off guard in the elevator to heaven and Junior being himself, Zygo in hand, and making sure he keeps is clothes on. Harold captured a few images and the rest of the night is memorialized more in a feeling of ease. Theres nothing like getting toe up among people that, I wouldnt doubt, would hold your hair back if they catch you hunched over the toilet. Holler.

Harold's 30th at High Voltage

Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

There was Junior Sanchez spinning, Dimitry and Alanna doing shots, Harold sippn' his green juice and friends and family in abundance. All came out to wish the big H a big Happy 30th! And I couldn't have been happier and couldn't have wanted it any other way!

Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

Hello chiclets...its been a little too long for a dose of zygoness in your blood stream. I hope the withdrawl wasn't too painful. From Anna Copacabana tranformed into a Xanadu Roller girl, an impromptu encounter with Junior Sanchez at Mr. Blacks to dirty burlesque at S.U.N Arts. All with a hefty pour of liquid energy, double fisting and a happy smile on my face it's been a cool and wicked few weeks. But nothing less is expected when you lap at NYC's tit of juicy happenstance. Hmmm...where shall we start? I guess a picture tells a better story...

Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with Wierd and Gilly,
The Spiders from Mars.
He played it left hand, but made it too far,
Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's Band.

Ziggy really sang, screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo
Like some cat from Japan, he could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave 'me to hang
Came on so loaded man, well hung and snow white tan.

So where were the spiders while the fly tried to break our balls
Just the beer light to guide us,
So we bitched about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands ?

Ziggy played for time, jiving us that we were Voodoo
The kids was just crass, he was the naz
With God given ass
He took it all too far but boy could he play guitar.

Making love with his ego Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band

The Motherfucker Party 2007

Photo Gallery

Zygo Vodka - 70 Proof Regime

I was first introduced to the notorious Motherfucker Party about three years ago while I was coat checking at Centro Fly. Harold, then the GM, was like "this shit is going to be crazy so be on point". I was a newbie to the city back then. Something about the way Harold has said those words made me feel like I was about to get schooled on some real New York City shit. 10pm rolled by and I can easily say the floodgates of a secret portal to the "World of Freak" had swung open with a vengeance. It was like every possible dream and nightmare you can conceive was made manifest into the physical. The make-up, the clothes, the feathers, the leather, the metal, the glitz, and all that glam. My hair swung back and I took a breath of relief. I'm home.

Fast forward to 2007. The Motherfucker in its 7th year running had booked out Webster Hall and a band too fitting for the night's revelry: The Faint. With their deep, dark analog sound they easily create a magnetic sort of hype on stage as they do in their recorded albums. Their music hangs in the air like a black velvet drape that only allows in enough light to shock the synapses in overdrive. They are as fun to watch as they are to listen to with lyrics that kind of make you feel a little dirty. Kind of like someone told you a secret that you rather had not known but now that you do makes you want to get naked and do bad things. Like I said The MotherFucker is a portal to a world not quite normal and easily leaves all judgments at the door.
